This section explains how Perpetual Wishes handles information in the LegacyNotes app. It applies to the current App Store version of LegacyNotes for iPhone and iPad.
LegacyNotes processes the information you choose to enter or attach. Depending on the features you use, this may include profile information, journal entries, notes, photographs, family relationships, personal values, life stories, medical-planning information, final wishes, obituary details, digital-estate notes, trusted-contact information, and sharing preferences.
This information is used only to provide the features you request, such as organizing your records, synchronizing them across your devices, generating reports, and sharing selected information with people you choose.
LegacyNotes stores records locally on your devices. When iCloud is available, the app uses Apple's iCloud and CloudKit services to synchronize records through your private iCloud account. CloudKit also supports records that you deliberately share with other people. Apple's handling of information through these services is governed by Apple's terms and privacy policies.
Perpetual Wishes does not operate a separate server that receives your LegacyNotes records and does not receive your app content for advertising or analytics.
LegacyNotes does not share your records automatically. Sharing occurs when you choose recipients for a CloudKit share, create a sharing package, export a report or legacy binder, or send content using an Apple share sheet. Review the selected information and recipient before completing any share or export.
Revoking a share stops future access through LegacyNotes after CloudKit finishes synchronizing. It cannot erase a file, screenshot, printout, or other copy that a recipient previously saved outside LegacyNotes. Exported files are independent copies and are governed by the application, service, or person to which you send them.
On supported devices, LegacyNotes can use Apple Intelligence for features such as organizing a quick capture or generating an obituary draft. These features run on the device through Apple's system frameworks. LegacyNotes does not automatically attach obituary facts or generated text to diagnostics.
LegacyNotes may also let you export prepared text for use with another AI tool. That export occurs only when you choose it and select a destination. Information sent to another application or service is then subject to that provider's privacy practices.
LegacyNotes does not automatically create diagnostic attachments containing your obituary facts or generated obituary text. Any diagnostic attachment requires a preview and your approval. Approved attachments expire after three days and can be reviewed or deleted sooner from Settings.
LegacyNotes relies on the security protections provided by iOS, iPadOS, and iCloud. You can enable the app's privacy lock to require Face ID or your device passcode after the selected inactive period. LegacyNotes also hides its content in the app switcher. Files that you export or share outside the app are no longer protected by LegacyNotes and should be handled carefully.
Saved records remain on your devices and in iCloud until you edit or delete them. In LegacyNotes, go to Settings > Your Data to review sharing, export your records, inspect diagnostic attachments, or begin deletion of the data you own.
When you choose Delete Local and iCloud Data, LegacyNotes first revokes participants from shares you own and then deletes your private records locally. Those deletions synchronize to iCloud. Invitations may remain visible briefly while CloudKit finishes synchronizing. Records that another person shared with you are not deleted, and copies previously exported or saved by recipients cannot be recalled.
We may update this policy when LegacyNotes features or data practices change. The effective date above will be revised when an update is published. App Store privacy disclosures will also be updated when required.
